I HEART my hubby!!

There are a few things I am absolutely certain about in this life. One is that Jesus Christ is God's son and He died for our sins and rose again. The other is that I have the BEST husband in the history of all husbands the whole world over. You can't convince me otherwise.

Yesterday, of course, was my birthday. With that being said, Josh has come to realize that I'm somewhat psychotic about wanting birthdays to be special. He doesn't quite truly understand that concept as from the time he was a kid he's been used to sharing his birthday with his mom and Mother's Day. To him it's just not a big deal. However, even in the lack of his complete understanding of my craziness, he overcame his personal indifference to make my birthday so very special - the sign of a truly great husband.

So what did this oh-sweet-hubby of mine do??

I happened upon a card and a pack of gum (I LOVE gum!) awaiting me in my vehicle this morning.
He met me at my college ministry luncheon with flowers.
I arrived home to another card full of incredibly sweet sentiments, and on top of that- that card was located in the kitchen, the very same place that my hubby was located. What was he doing in said kitchen?? Cooking dinner for me. Yep, that's right. Cooking dinner - Caesar salad, green beans (fresh REAL ones!), mashed potatoes, kabobs and shrimp on the barbie. :) (And by the way, the only thing he had EVER "made" before from the aforementioned list was the Caesar salad). SO thoughtful....
I then had to depart for a meeting for my Honduras mission trip and I returned to a GINORMOUS homemade birthday cake (2 HUGE layers!) topped with yummy chocolate icing and 29 glowing candles....all this WITH a resounding rendition of the old time classic, "Happy Birthday" sung with conviction by my hubby. (P.S. The great thing about the cake is that I'm leaving the country on Saturday and there is absolutely NO way that we can eat it all before I leave....SO, it's gonna be left for Josh to eat. Could that possibly have been planned?? :) )

And then on top of the dinner and cake, I had presents. Yep, presents. The thing I love about getting presents from Josh is that he knows me. He just plain out knows me and he pays attention at the most ridiculous things I say off the cuff and remembers that months down the road! It's really quite amazing. And because of that - I ended up with a hammock (SO excited about that now that we have an awesome backyard to put it in!) and a garden stool (sounds nerdy but I'm somewhat odd and LOVE pulling weeds - and this "Garden Rocker" promises to reduce knee and back strain! Woo Hoo!).

Fast forward through snuggling on the couch and getting a foot rub....and we're laying in bed to go to sleep and he pulls out one last birthday card. He's such a great man and he's all mine.

Three cheers for birthdays and a billion cheers for Josh!

Blog Vomit

So...it's been way TOO long since I've blogged...but in all honesty, it's a rather daunting task to cover the craziness of the past month and a half. Therefore, I have avoided it. But I just summoned up the internal fortitude to give it a half-hearted whirl so that I can move forward from this point on.
The past 6 weeks...let's see....here's what it's been:

- Set a date to close on our house.
- Were told that we weren't going to get the house.
- Oh wait, now we can buy the house.
- CLOSING!!!!!!
- Moving in to the aformentioned closed-upon house.
- Immediate stripping of wallpaper in two bathrooms, dining room and kitchen.
- Painting of master bathroom.
- Becky, Nathan and Carson and Corbin (and baby #3 Marks - which we have now joyfully discovered to be Baby Girl Marks!! Woo Hoo!!) came for a visit, which included a trip to the highly overrated and somewhat sadistic Tank Musuem, as well as an all out wrestling match versus Samson (i.e. Corbin Marks). And oh yeah, Samson gave us a much-needed life lesson about not laughing at people, because quite simply, it's just not nice.
- Josh left to mingle with the buffalo in South Dakota! (pre-trip for our college mission trip this summer)
-Josh came home and then we turned right back around and headed for hot, humid and flat Florida. (pre-trip for youth mission trip this summer).
-While in Florida, Josh and I got to partake in C&K barbeque, Ocean Star, Peaches and Giardanos...it really doesn't get much better than that. :)
-The day I got back from Florida I headed up to Lynchburg with 3 of my college students for a BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministry) conference.
- Painting of half-bath (and have I mentioned that I have been the one to mount all towel racks and tp dispensers to the wall?? Yeah - I'm pretty amazing with a drill.)
- Anna Peterson and Kelcey Bolduc drove 4 hours from TN just to hang out with us for a night - and a fun night it was. :)
- In the midst of our night of fun with Anna and Kelcey, a little field mouse decided that he, too, wanted to join in the jovial time. Yes, folks, that's right. A mouse. We thought we had escaped living with rodents, but alas, we are still enduring their nightly terrors. We have successfully trapped two of them with no further signs of more at this juncture. Let's hope and pray that's all there are!
- EASTER!!!! (and yes, at age 28 - soon to be 29- both Josh and I dyed Easter eggs and got Easter baskets. You're never too old!)

Phew...and I think that pretty much brings us up to date for the most part. Now the next big thing on the docket is shipping me off to Honduras (well, not so much "shipping" as in "flying" - but you get the point) this upcoming Saturday, which is actually TWO days AFTER my birthday - for those of you who have no problem remembering my 29th birthday and needed a point of reference. :)

And there, my friends, was a whole lot of blog vomit. Glad that's out of the way and that we can move forward from here!
