So just this very morning, I made a comment to Josh that I was quite grateful that so far this winter we haven't had any mice in our home. You see, last year around this time, we had a phantom mouse...we knew he existed because he left his special "markings" all over but we couldn't manage to actually see him. In due time, we trapped him....not very humanefully, but we were mouse-free and grateful.
And then....tonight, I'm in the bathroom when what should I see scurrying across our bathroom floor?? A mouse. I definitely spoke way too soon this morning. Thankfully within 30 minutes, we and all of our wealth of mouse-catching knowledge, had trapped and killed our little creature.
Just to follow up on the last post - my speaking engagement at the church went quite well - lots of positive feedback. It was interesting to experience another church's worship service and style. I'm always amazed to see the diveristy in the body of Christ.
Today we had to go to a funeral. A man in our church who has been battling a rare form of cancer for the past 2 years died this past Friday. He was a few years older than us and left behind a wife and 3 young children. His life was such a testimony to Christ, and it was neat to know that he told our pastor that he didn't want the funeral to be about him at all but that Christ would be lifted up. It was just hard when you know that his wife will have a hard road ahead of her. I don't know how I would manage in that situation. It makes me grateful for my husband, and yet always mindful that I have to keep an open hand to the blessings that God gives me. At any moment they can be taken away and all that will remain steady and constant is the Lord. Please be praying for his wife - Amanda and their 3 kids - Henley, Abby and Noah.
